---- — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County will sponsor farmers’ markets for the 2013 season in Sidney, Walton and Deposit.
These markets have been established for the convenience of local residents and participants in the 2013 Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program through WIC and Delaware County Office for the Aging. In addition to cash sales, WIC clients and income eligible senior citizens may redeem their farmers’ market nutrition program coupons at these local markets.
The Sidney Farmer’s Market will be held Tuesdays, July 2 to Sept. 24, at the Video Entertainment parking lot at 89 Main St.
Walton’s market will be open on two days: Aug. 7 and Sept. 4. The market will be held at UHS Delaware Valley Hospital at 2 Titus Place.
Deposit’s market will also be open on two days: Aug. 15 and Sept. 19. The market will coincide with the WIC clinic held at the First United Methodist Church at 107 Second St.
All markets will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All three markets will feature goods from Brookside Market Gardens, including beets, chard, herbs, kohlrabi, melons, onions, peppers, spinach, cabbage, beans, squash, tomatoes and other fresh fruits and vegetables as seasonally available. Sidney’s market will also feature new vendor Whitetail Meadow Farm. In Deposit and Walton, the Catskill Cattle Company will sell items.
