Girl Scouts to recruit members at upcoming events

The Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, which serves a 26-county area of New York and Pennsylvania, will conduct membership drive events in the area this fall, according to a media release.

Girl Scouting is open to girls from kindergarten through 12th grade. The registration fee is $12 per year, with financial assistance available. Girls who join Girl Scouts can participate in the following "pathways":


The same group of girls have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities usually over the span of nine to 12 months.


Stand-alone offerings. Different girls typically participate in each event.


Features day, weekend and resident experiences that introduce girls to the outdoors.


A sequence of linked program sessions that relate to a specific theme or purpose. The intent is to engage the same group of girls throughout the entire series.


Girls learn leadership and cross-cultural understanding through local, regional, national, and international travel. Girls prepare, plan, earn money and participate through group travel.


An online Girl Scout community that provides girls the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouting without regard to geographic location.

Area girls can learn more about Girl Scouting at the following local registration events. Events are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted:

Saturday: 10 a.m. to noon, Shadowbrook Campground, 2149 County Route 31 in Cooperstown.

Monday, Sept. 17: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Schenevus Masonic Lodge, state Route 7/Main Street.

Tuesday, Sept. 18: Upper Wilber Park, Center Street in Oneonta.

Wednesday, Sept. 19: Upper Wilber Park, Center Street in Oneonta.

Friday, Sept. 21: Sidney Elementary School Computer Lab.

Monday, Sept. 24: South Kortright Central School.

Thursday, Sept. 27: United Methodist Church's M&M Building, Main Street in Worcester (includes ice cream social).

Thursday, Sept. 27: 6:30 to 8 p.m., Open House at Walton's Townsend School Cafeteria.

Friday, Sept. 28: 6 to 7:30 p.m., Stamford Center School.
