Contest Rules

— CONTEST RULES:
1. Any resident of Otsego, Schoharie, Delaware or Chenango counties is eligible to enter, except for last year's grand-prize winner.

2. All entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges who will determine, on the basis of originality and general appeal, which entries will be selected as finalists.

3. All entries must be received by The Daily Star's newsroom by 5pm Friday, March 7, to be eligible. Entries received after 5pm will automatically be disqualified from the contest and will not be published in The Daily Star's special cookbook section.

4. Nine finalists will be notified of their selection by Monday, March 10.

5. Finalists will be required to prepare their recipes with judges present at a cook-off. Prizes will be awarded on the basis of the taste, texture and ease of preparation of each dish. Finalists will also be evaluated on their general cooking ability, including sanitary practices.

6. The decision of the judges is final, and all entries become the property of The Daily Star.

7. All entries must be typed or neatly printed on the entry blank, any blank sheet of paper or a digital file. Recipe file cards will not be accepted. Recipes that are unclear or incomplete may be excluded from judging.

8. All eligible entries received by The Daily Star by 5pm March 7 will be considered by the judges; however, The Daily Star cannot guarantee publication of every entry received and will limit the number of recipes published to no more than three per person. Daily Star employees and their families are not eligible to win.
