The company, founded in the town of Columbus in 2005, brings in about $1 billion a year in sales and has put our area at the center of the rise of popularity of Greek yogurt in the U.S.
We congratulate Ulukaya on his award.
To the organizers of local farmers’ markets.
Some farmers’ markets are available throughout the year, such as the Oneonta and Cooperstown markets, but as spring and summer arrives, more markets are added to the schedule.
Many communities, such as Morris, Hobart and Sidney, offer weekly markets, and others are more sporadic, such as the Greater Stamford Area Chamber of Commerce holiday pop-up markets and the Cornell Cooperative Extension markets in Walton and Deposit.
The markets offer locally grown meat and produce and handmade products. Some offer entertainment and activities during open hours.
We love seeing easy access to locally grown food and locally made products. We thank merchants and organizers for keeping the markets open, and encourage residents to see what the markets have to offer.
