In Our Opinion: Cheers

To SUNY Cobleskill’s involvement in Build Smart NY.

The State University College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill is one of 10 SUNY campuses involved in a the energy-efficiency project.

SUNY Cobleskill’s manager of capital projects, Allan Quinn, said a photovoltaic array will be installed this spring at the college. The solar panel array will be east of the school’s Center for Environmental Science and Technology and will provide a majority of the energy needed to run the building, Quinn said.

Students, particularly those attending classes in the Center for Environmental Science and Technology, “will have an excellent example of what they’re learning about right outside,” Quinn said. “There will also be a flat screen in the lobby of the CEST for students to see, in real-time, the energy being generated by the pv array.”

We’re glad to see education and efforts to protect the environment combined in the project.
