In Our Opinion: Cheers

This is a wonderful, healthy way to welcome the new year while helping a community organization. We applaud all who braved the cold temperatures to support this worthy cause.

To the Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta for continuing its wintertime tradition of providing free soup to anyone who would like it.

All are welcome to stop by the church at 401 Chestnut St. in Oneonta from 4 to 5 p.m. each Wednesday for a bowl to go.

Soup-to-Go began its 16th year on Wednesday with turkey harvest dinner soup. A different homemade soup will be offered each week through March 12. The soup is free, but donations for the church are accepted.

We thank the church volunteers for their time in creating, packaging and distributing the warm servings of soup to those in need or those who just want something to warm them up on a cold winter’s day.
