The Oneonta Stallions have also worked over the past few years to build a new and different tradition. The team’s home games at Wright Stadium, on the Hartwick College campus, also aim for a family-friendly atmosphere, and the team features local players, including Oneonta High graduate Noble Champen. The Stallions donate to charity and host an annual benefit for families in need.
The Stallions have come a long way from the rocky early days, when the team struggled to score points, let alone win games. More recent seasons have given fans more to cheer about. This year’s roster includes 27 players from last year’s squad, which made its first playoffs appearance last season and put together a 7-4 record — the team’s first winning season.
So if you’re looking for something to do this summer, take in a ball game — football, baseball, or both. Sure, there’s a chance you might see some future stars, but more importantly, you might also just have a good time.
