In Our Opinion: Cheers

Barbara Ann Heegan, executive director of Otsego County Chamber, which was a sponsor of the event, said the event is “what our community is all about — getting together enjoying the beauty and charm of our ball park, being good neighbors and enjoying the quality of life that surrounds us with some fun activities for the entire family all weekend long.”

We agree. We thank the organizers for offering the activities to the public and the community for continuing its support of baseball in Oneonta.

To the continued opening of lands in the New York City watershed for recreation.

The latest is a 5.2-mile hiking trail outside the hamlet of Andes. The trail was a partnership between the city Department of Environmental Protection, hiking groups and local officials.

There are many restrictions put on residents of the New York City watershed, so we’re glad to see the public have a chance to take advantage of what the area has to offer.
