Paying what you can afford won't work

Paying what you can afford won’t work

Our president said:

“We can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, and everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules …”

To make life fair we need to either adjust income or adjust prices. You only pay what you can afford. It would work something like this:

Your index would represent your salary compared to the average of $47,000.

The average citizen would have an index of one while the rich would have an index more than one, and the poor less than one.

Each would receive an electronic card showing their index. All businesses would be required to adjust their prices. You could not make a purchase without your card. The poor would pay less and the rich more.

Today a McDonald’s Happy Meal costs around $3. If you had an index of 50 percent, you would only pay $1.50, and if you were 200 percent, you would pay $6.

Here are some other examples:

If your income is $1,000, you would have an index of -35 percent. We pay you $1.05. It’s only right because we need to keep McDonald’s employees working and you have no money.

If your income is $50,000, your Happy Meal is $2.63.

If your income is $200,000, your Happy Meal is $13.88.

If you are a millionaire, your Happy Meal will run around $73.88. You earn $625 per hour!

Donald Trump is reported to earn $45 million this year. His Happy Meal will run more than $3,000. That’s chump change for the Trump.

Wouldn’t it be grand? The poor would be fed. Each would pay what he could afford. The economy would be kept running with all of the new spending. No more unfair taxes or welfare programs to degrade people. I just can’t wait.
