Sheriffs should emulate state police

Respect is something that is earned and should never be taken for granted. Morals and family values are another aspect of life that should be above par. I have family members who worked for various law enforcement agencies around the state where to say the least, respect, morals and pride played an important role in our everyday lives both on the streets and in the home. You don't have to come from a family like mine to have these traits.

Since I moved to Otsego County 18 plus years ago, I have never met a bunch of people who have low morals and show little or no respect as some of the members of the Otsego County Sheriff's Department. Their manipulation of the law to suit their personal needs and objectives puts them in a class by themselves and beyond words. Anyone who ever had contact with them for any reason, even a traffic ticket, might have experienced what I am writing about.

I think that the Otsego County Sheriff's Department should take lessons from the New York State Police where respect, pride and honor exists so they would know what it's like to be a police officer and wear their shields with pride and enforce the law as it was intended.
