Let's help stopsuicide by veterans

Tornados destroy whole towns in seconds. It tears at our hearts. An island nation is run over by a monster hurricane. Who cannot shed tears while seeing dazed, confused, hurting parents, spouses, children and friends wandering, looking for persons, pets, a favorite doll? A cat staggered from under the rubble. Everything stopped momentarily as a tiny sign of hope appeared.

Each day two of our newer heroic veterans commit suicide, continuing a pattern started in 2003. A billion for an airplane, or a useless tank. Sure! Make it 35! Yet Washington “warriors” say, “We just can’t afford such veteran costs!” before voting another $40 billion (40,000 million) for the poor oil companies. As a veteran I am beyond infuriated.

Children with some illnesses are afforded a family trip, usually to Disney World. Donations come from workers whose earnings have regressed to 1980 levels while the rich have had increases over 300 percent.

“The Health Plan” was announced by Republican Stuart M. Butler on Oct. 2, 1989, to “stop free riders.” Butler worked for Charles and David Koch, who own The Heritage Foundation, among others. Grassley, Hatch, Bennett and other Republicans cheered! That plan is now in Massachusetts, and is almost identical to The Affordable Health Act known as Obamacare. Like your auto insurance, it is free enterprise, not government.

Compassion and empathy come hard to some people. Some are builders. Some just enjoy destroying!

What do we need for Christmas? The best gift to all would be resetting our country’s priorities, allowing for hope. Fair bargained wages would pay for food, heat, medical care and housing, plus retirement. Let people, not fascist Citizens United corporations, be our government per our Constitution. Stop veteran suicides. Please! Insist Congress act NOW!

Love, Peace and Hope to All!
