I've been following the discussion surrounding The Manor regarding to privatize or not to privatize.
Every time I read something about funding the Manor, I think of the county's resolution of the garbage issue a few years ago. Back then, the county board enacted, then raised, "tipping fees" to offset losses. So why not use the same formula for our sick and elderly? Why not just establish a "quality of life" user fee to pay for things that help people?
Are not our citizens worth as much as our garbage?
If privatize is the route, maybe we should privatize the highway department, the sheriff's office and hire a county manager to replace the county board.
