Serving the town of Oneonta residents, first as a councilman for six years and more recently as the county representative for six years, has been a responsibility I have gladly accepted.
People have been very generous in expressing their best wishes to me as I retire as the county representative for the town of Oneonta. I have enjoyed the support of those who appreciated initiative and collaboration as a basis for discussions that led to informed decisions. My retirement from the county board has been easier knowing that Dan Buttermann has emerged as the kind of representative that town of Oneonta residents can be certain will continue this favored approach to government.
It has been more than impressive to see Dan speak with people from “both sides of the aisle.” His calm demeanor and ability to listen put people at ease and ensures that the concerns of residents will be his objectives. Buttermann has gained the respect of informed voters who are pleased with his analysis of issues from a financial perspective. Short term, as Otsego County goes forward with the issues of MOSA and the Manor, Dan’s approach is critical. As Otsego County heads into the future, the issues of comprehensive planning, union negotiations, public safety, county manager and responsible economic development are essential.
Local elections are important because they give us the opportunity to shape the community in which we live. As voters, you have always supported my candidacy. To ensure that our shared vision continues, I respectfully ask that you support Dan Buttermann for Otsego County representative, town of Oneonta, with your vote on Nov. 5, 2013.
