More options must be there for Manor

As an Otsego County resident, taxpayer and employee, I do not want to see the residents of Otsego Manor sold out.

I truly believe there are alternatives that the county board is unwilling to look at.

So a 14-member board gets to decide to put the fate of the residents and employees in someone else’s hands.

Residents who lived, worked, owned homes and paid taxes in Otsego County deserve better.

How many decisions has the board made behind closed doors that no one knows about or that no one decided to challenge?

It seems whenever there is a problem with money and The Manor, it comes down to the employees’ wages and benefits. Employee benefits extend beyond Otsego Manor, and are negotiated and AGREED upon between CSEA and the board! The board also has an attractive benefits package that could be looked at.

I wholeheartedly believe that even if the employees gave away all their benefits they would still sell.

I know we don’t understand all about Medicaid reimbursement and stuff, but we do know when there is money being wasted. I just don’t understand why they are so closed-minded and won’t listen to the people that know of ways for the county to save money, without selling The Manor.

I can go somewhere else if they sell, but the residents can’t.

Why let the highest reputable bidder take care of them? They are not vested in this county or in the lives of the people who shaped and molded this county into what it is today, or at least what it should be.

Find the alternative. They deserve it.
