The Otsego Board Manor Committee voted, 3-1, to sell the Manor in February. On March 6, the board voted to hire Harrison Beach PLLC to form an “LDC,” relieving the board of liability for the sale. The presentation was closed to the public.
Three March “sham” meetings will not be to exchange ideas nor voice opposition, because most of the board isn’t interested. They want to sell without input.
True democratic process is to hold discussions and allow that to inform decisions made by those who supposedly represent us. The 2,000-plus signatures of county residents reflects strong opposition.
You should be calling all the reps! Tell them not to sell, until all alternatives are examined by a consultant, and after public forums are held. You should also ask Rep. Powers to renegotiate the union contract now, while we still have a chance. The union has said it will negotiate.
I am calling on all county residents, and politicians who are playing “dead” on this issue, to step up. The reps have not fully engaged their constituents, so the constituents must engage THEM and educate them on the democratic process. We all want to “Save the Manor.”
