Officials show ignorance about fracking

Officials show ignorance about fracking

Really! We, the anti-frackers, should “get a grip”? Hysteria doesn’t begin to describe the feeling you get when you get the “letter” from the pipeline people.

When you read their “easement” agreement, you would cringe at the implications. Landowners are responsible for all damages. For their 50-foot easement they can and will use ANY part of your land and do whatever they want to build this monster. They can also sell this easement at any time. And if things go wrong, the landowner is responsible.

None of us live here in central New York because we desired industrialization. Gas is a temporary fix. No well that is “fracked” lasts very long. Each well requires pipeline to interconnect with other wells and all require pipelines to main pipelines. When they run out, as they surely will, new wells and pipelines must be built. And I hate to keep bringing this up, but — where will all this water be coming from? (3 to 6 million gallons a day — their numbers.)

Our elected officials, including but not limited to Clinton, Schumer, Obama and a lot of locals, have a serious lack of knowledge when it comes to fracking and all it entails. They show a serious lack of care for the homeowners’ lands, be it a quarter acre or 100-plus acres. All trashed and rendered worthless, so a select few can profit. That’s a good neighbor?

I personally consider anyone who is a pro-fracker to be an enemy of the people, destroyers of the land for the future generations who will follow us, and wonder, how did we “let this happen?”
