In Your Opinion: Clark Scholarships a proud tradition

This past weekend marked a very big event for families: high school graduation. I have attended many of these ceremonies over the decades and there is something that has been repeated oftentimes at each of these grand “rites of passage.”

When the honors are said for each graduate, I have heard the words “Clark Scholarship Recipient” said many times at each ceremony. This refrain is again repeated at most graduations around Otsego County.

My children were both fortunately awarded these scholarships that continued throughout their collegiate studies. The Clark Foundation does so much for the Cooperstown community, churches and surrounding areas, and in other ways behind the scenes, so to speak, which are not known by many people. Again, this has been going on for decades! We should be thankful we have such a wonderful and far-reaching philanthropic organization in our midst. Thank you, and your ancestors, Jane Forbes Clark.
