There are a lot of principled conservatives out there, so why have the liberals been so successful?
Perhaps it’s because the Democratic platform consistently features programs that propose some type of provision and support. And, in times like these, this sentiment is persuasive.
Meanwhile, the Republicans say all we need is “deregulated this and that” so the chips can fall where they may — all the while smiling behind silver spoons.
So, to reference “The Godfather: Part II,” while the Republicans offer us the same thing Michael Corleone offered Senator Geary, “My offer is this: nothing!” it must at least be said that the Democrats at least try to offer “something.”
And, everybody knows that having something is better than having nothing at all!
The failing of the conservative viewpoint is that it often seems focused in preserving a status quo a vast number of Americans have already found inadequate.
Until there is a conservative platform that features genuine solutions to real, everyday problems faced by ordinary Americans, the strength of liberalism in previously conservative America can only continue.
So, would someone kindly open the door already for Hillary?
