In response to a member of the Otsego Area Landowners’ Association’s commentary in the Weekend edition of The Daily Star, the public (or in Dick Downey’s words, scaremongers), would like him and the association to explain to the citizens of New York state why windmills and other renewables are so bad, when horizontal hydrofracking requires the following:
1. Injection wells and holding tanks to store indefinitely millions of gallons of toxic flowback waste from the mining process.
2. Miles of volatile natural gas pipelines and acres of smog belching compressor stations.
3. Millions of gallons of clean water that will never, ever be drinkable again!
4. Compulsory integration into natural gas wells and eminent domain equals forced participation into the fossil fuel industry’s greed and your land rights, homeowners’ insurance and health are taken away so the mined gas can be shipped overseas.
I can go on, but I think I will take the higher path to renewable energy.
