Voters in the Oneonta City School District will have an opportunity on May 20 to elect to our school board a person with unique experience, an unmatched work ethic, a commitment to all levels of education and organizational skills needed to work successfully with all constituencies to improve education in our community.
Having known Karen Brown since her days as a student at the State University College at Oneonta, through her varied successful steps up the career ladder to a responsible position in her alma mater’s administration, she has exhibited attributes, as a parent, as a trusted employee, as a knowing educator, that will be an asset to the future of our community’s schools.
Karen has two children who have attended elementary, middle and high school in our community, so she is familiar with our local schools. She has had the unique opportunity, in her admissions position, to work with and learn about the diversity and make-up of many other schools throughout New York state. She has also had the opportunity of working with, and within, and the state university bureaucracy, so the regulations of the bureaucratic process are no strangers to Karen.
We have every confidence that Karen Brown will be an active and positive contributor to our schools and to our community.
