The Daily Star
---- — Among one of the “best secrets” in Oneonta is the New York Summer Music Festival (NSYMF.org) at SUNY Oneonta. There, the faculty and students perform outstanding concerts on a regular basis. They are really remarkable, be it wind ensemble, symphony orchestra or jazz band. Listening costs nothing. Anyone may attend. One leaves the performance with a sense of joy.
The students are from other states, other countries. They are auditioned by professional musicians, receive scholarships to come and study, perfect their chosen instruments and perform. We, the audience, are the beneficiaries.
A schedule of performances can be found at www.nysmf.org or by calling 267-4024.
Go! You will be pleasantly surprised. By the way, this letter was not solicited by anyone. It was my own enthusiasm that prompted it.
