Cherish the blessings of life in Oneonta
What blessings we in the greater Oneonta area enjoy and need to cherish!
We will soon have a new hotel on the Southside, giving us six to choose from. The terrible devastation of the Jersey coast and New York City escaped us, and many are helping the residents of those areas to recover, praise God.
Our downtown is being slowly spruced up, even the parking lot. The Foothills Performing Arts Center is on a more stable basis, having had sold-out events since summer. Local ownership of our baseball team has been secured. Several new stores now grace the Southside Mall. Oneonta — relax and enjoy!
In the next political round, perhaps we can look forward to more cooperation between the parties in Washington and between the executive and Congress, to serious discussions of the merits and cost of the Middle East wars — $5 trillion and how many military and civilian lives? — some reasonable and effective tracking of the national debt, and a gradual lowering of America being policeman of the world.
It’s still a great country and we are slowly recovering our economy. May each of you enjoy the remaining glorious fall colors and the crisp, invigorating air. Be glad and go about your business with a smile! Cheers!
