Just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Try volunteering at a food pantry and having to tell the mother of three small children that we’re out of milk coupons for the rest of the year after she tells you she just got notice that her food stamps were cut.
No one wants a handout. But many people — especially after our comfortable Congresspeople voted to cut food stamps — had to return to their food pantries after having somehow managed to scrape by on their own.
Since it’s too late to stop the way our Congress voted, let’s do the only thing we can do — at least until the next election: let’s give a check to our local food pantry as a real way of wishing our less-fortunate fellow citizens a happy holiday season.
