Salvation Army does much to help
This letter is in response to Nico Meyering’s letter, printed Nov. 27.
What makes you write such a hateful letter regarding the Salvation Army?
Have you ever been in need of a warm coat or had to visit a food pantry?
I cannot speak for what goes on outside of Oneonta, but I can tell you our local corps does an outstanding job.
I have witnessed grown men in tears because of circumstances beyond their control, could not provide necessities for their family.
Those who ring the bells stand for hours, often in bitter-cold weather, to perform this duty, so children may have a good Christmas like others more fortunate than they.
Your issue has nothing to do with the true meaning of Christmas.
Unless you’ve witnessed these things you have no idea what has been done and is still going on to help flood victims and people affected by layoffs and illness.
Take your agenda elsewhere and don’t condemn those who are trying to help others.
Shame on you for writing such a letter.
