Republicans aren't helping anyone
In 2008, America was facing an economic meltdown. On the evening before Obama was sworn in, a key group of Republicans met. Were they brainstorming ideas and planning strategy on how to best help our struggling economy? NO! They were plotting on how to destroy a president before he even took office. Is this what they were elected to do?
America is great! America has a democracy _ or so we thought. The Republican Party is destroying that idea. They pledge their allegiance to Grover Norquist, a lobbyist; the NRA; the Koch brothers; big money; and everything except what is best for the citizens of this country. They yell "jobs" five times in every sentence and have done everything possible to obstruct jobs to avoid the president getting credit.
If big money was going to create jobs, it should have happened back when Bush gave the wealthy huge tax breaks. The economy should have been booming and jobs plentiful. Instead it added a huge increase in our deficit. You may have your own opinion, but it does not change the facts!
Freedom is another word that they like to mouth. Go to the Congressional Record, and see the laws being implemented in some of our Republican-run states. Voter repression, women's healthcare issues, marriage, sex lives and everything under the sun _ except jobs! Look up the legislation that has or has not been enacted, and get a reality check. Look at the approval rating of Congress. Do you want more of the same elected into office?
The GOP label no longer applies to the present Republican Party. Patriotism and representing democracy do not mean working against the best interests of this country. Our elected officials should be representing the people of the U.S., not personal political goals.
