The Daily Star
---- — Who purchases our skilled nursing facility, The Manor, will be determined on Jan. 27 by the Otsego County Health Facilities Corp.
In order for you to better understand the skilled nursing facilities vying for The Manor (there are two), we have prepared the following:
VestraCare owns two nursing homes, one in Johnson City, the other in Kingston. According to Medicare.gov., the home in Johnson City was awarded four stars out of five; the Kingston facility, five out of five. It obviously has its act together.
Focus, from Utica, according to Medicare.gov., received a one-star rating. How could it operate a second nursing home when it needs to vastly improve its present facility? It has been sited for multiple deficiencies and repeat deficiencies, some quite serious.
As family members who had/has a mom at The Manor, we don’t want a one-star agency involved with our precious residents’ needs and care.
Let’s choose the best for our loved ones and for the staff we know and love. Do all you can within the next week to convince the Otsego Health Facilities Corp. to choose VestraCare.
