---- — Coca-Cola thwarts labeling of GMOs
According to a recent New York Times poll, 93 percent of the American public supports the labeling of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). And labeling is already the norm in 64 nations, including all of Europe.
In 2013, Coca-Cola spent over $1.5 million to oppose labeling of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in Washington State, and over $1.7 million in California in 2012.
Coca-Cola hid its expenditure to oppose GMO labeling by funneling the money through the Grocery Manufacturers Association, and its involvement only came to light after the Washington state attorney general filed a lawsuit.
Over 175,000 people have joined the campaign calling on the Coca-Cola company to stop funding efforts to block labeling of genetically engineered (GE) foods.
