The Daily Star
---- — I enjoyed your article about state Sen. James Seward, R-Milford. No doubt about it, we have the best leaders money can buy. Our political leaders should dress like NASCAR drivers with patches for their sponsors stitched to their suits.
So Jim is the “powerful chairman of the Senate Insurance Committee.” With all the cash handed to him from so many insurance companies he is in a huge ethical mess when it comes time to vote.
Let’s see, should I vote for the big insurance company that gives me money every year or for the little guy who can’t afford to pay his increasing insurance bill — and doesn’t give me anything? Did you ever wonder why your insurance costs keep going up? It is impossible, Sen. Seward, to vote in a clean and honest way and not be perceived as having “sold his vote,” based on the information published in your paper.
Most of our leaders are bought and paid for and it is long past time to clean up this mess. Shame on all of us for allowing things like this to continue. We need campaign reform and perhaps a little individual ethics at the same time. How sad this is.
