I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Gloria Waro and I am running for Hartwick Town Council.
My husband, Mark, and I bought our home in South Hartwick 28 years ago. We were looking for a home in the Cooperstown school district, didn’t want to live in the village (where I enjoyed growing up,) and wanted to be in a country setting. Hartwick offered all that and more — it was the perfect place to raise our daughters.
I retired from civil service three years ago and plan to open a market in the old store we are renovating in Hartwick. I have always been interested in local government but never thought of myself in public service — until now.
I have attended Hartwick Town Board meetings for five years and currently sit on the Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee. I am a member of Hartwick Historical Society and worked with the town and society to have the hamlet placed on the Historic Register. I feel strongly that Hartwick is marching forward. As a town, we place near the top for bed tax and sales tax collection and are creating an environment that is friendly to families and business alike. As a longtime resident and soon-to-be business owner, I am committed to the town of Hartwick.
I am willing to work hard for all residents in the town. I am ready to serve. Election day is Nov. 5, and I would appreciate your vote.
Feel free to contact me with questions at 293-8087 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
I believe that my experience, education, and commitment make me an excellent candidate for Hartwick Town Board. Fire Chief Robert O’Brien says it best: “Hartwick, NY — a Great Place to Live!”
