I urge you to vote for Teresa Winchester for Otsego County representative for Butternuts, Morris and Pittsfield.
Her 15 years of experience as director of the Otsego County Conservation Association gave her a deep knowledge of the county, so that she is familiar with county and other governmental departments and agencies such as the Planning Department, the Solid Waste Management Department, Soil and Water Conservation District, USDA, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Chambers of Commerce, and more. While at OCCA, she established good working relationships with the personnel of these departments and agencies. She regularly attended county board meetings and committee meetings, so the workings of the county board are not new to her.
Further, she has shown leadership in her community. When many were saying or thinking, “We can’t do anything to stop fracking,” Teresa independently called a community meeting, gave a PowerPoint discussion on what fracking was, why it is a menace, and what could be done about it. She has maintained a community email list for information alerts on fracking since 2010 and organized the ban petition effort, going door-to-door to help gather 800 signatures. She is on the board of the Butternut Valley Alliance, and through this organization, she has promoted local agriculture, business and watershed planning.
It’s clear that Teresa Winchester understands that we need sustainable polices; policies that favor the most good for the most people. As a resident of Butternuts, I have been a witness to her commitment to helping achieve just that.
