The Daily Star
---- — If a conservative had said anything near to the indictment of Republicans in Sam Pollak’s commentary in the Weekend edition of Sept. 21, a verbal backlash would have occurred.
“Gun-loving, abortion-hating, Obamacare-loathing, etc.,” is uncivil at the least and hate speech at the worst. Accusing Republicans of suppressing voters, saying moderates and liberals stayed home in 2010, is ludicrous. Is it possible some voters have changed their support of various political positions? In any case, referring to opponents as rabidly right-wing just because you disagree with them does not lead to open discussions and does not encourage participation in the political process.
