I am writing this letter in strong support of Andrew Stammel’s campaign for Oneonta Town Board.
Andrew is a lifelong area resident and local attorney. He grew up active in his church, school and Boy Scouts, and his community involvement has continued into his professional life. It is refreshing to see members of a new generation stepping up and volunteering to serve their community. We need fresh faces and new energy and ideas.
Despite being in his early 30s, Andrew already has an impressive record of accomplishments and service. After college, Andrew served a full-time one year community service term with an AmeriCorps contingent based at State University College of Technology at Delhi. He offered environmental and outdoor education and recreation to area residents and schoolchildren, provided park and trail construction and maintenance in the community, and assisted with downtown beautification and disaster relief efforts locally.
After law school, Andrew returned, working first at Delaware County DSS and then a busy Stamford firm before founding his own law firm in Oneonta. Mr. Stammel makes efforts to represent all people in our community affordably and to assist them in times of need, often accepting assigned legal work for indigent clients or offering pro bono services.
Andrew is honest and works hard in everything that he does. Throughout his campaign, he has spoken with hundreds of town residents at their homes, be they Republican, Democrat or independent. He also opened his office every week this fall for open houses to hear constituents’ concerns. If he is elected, I know he will continue to listen to residents and be their voice on the town board. I trust his judgment and experience, but more importantly, I know he trusts our judgment and experiences and will bring truly representative government to the town.
