---- — Holleran would be asset on board
I encourage everyone to vote for Brett Holleran for a position on the Oneonta Town Board. I’ve known Brett for about 10 years and feel he would be a valuable addition to the town.
Brett is a very hardworking individual. In addition to being a full-time teacher, he owns and operates Deer Haven Campground with his wife, Mica. Pride of ownership is evident. Many school teachers take a break after an exhausting school year. Not Brett. He moves his family to the campground and does most of the work himself. He knows how to get things done. He is always willing to lend a hand. He has a lot of “know-how” and is not afraid to get hands dirty, but is sensible enough to know his limits and hire a professional to do the job when need be.
Another quality that would serve him well as a board member is his calm demeanor and level-headedness. Brett is able to listen to both sides of a story and not rush to a decision.
Last thing — it seems that there has been some serious misinformation on the one big issue that keeps coming up: fracking. For the record, Brett signed the anti-fracking petition that was circulated a year ago or so. In addition, while serving on the town planning committee, he voted in favor of stronger clean-water language. I (along with many others) am very concerned about the potential negative effects of fracking. I would have confidence in Brett helping steer policy when it comes to this complex issue.
In summary, the same qualities that make Brett a good family man, a good friend and neighbor, and a good businessman will serve him well as a town board member. He has lived in Oneonta his entire life and would be a dedicated civil servant. Vote for Brett!
