WINTER READING

If losing weight is one of your resolutions, get help from “The Miracle Carb Diet” by Tanya Zuckerbrot. Her focus is adding fiber to your diet using the four easy stages of her plan. There are lists of fiber rich foods, menu plans, recipes, tips for keeping track of your progress and more.

Clare Porterfield’s marriage is falling apart in “The Drowning House” by Elizabeth Black. So when she is invited to direct a photographic exhibition in her hometown of Galveston, Texas, she takes the offer. Once there, she is drawn into a 100-year-old mystery involving resident Stella Carraday. It seems she drowned in the family house during the great hurricane of 1900. But was it really a drowning or could it have been murder? Was the family involved? The closer she gets to the answers, the more disturbing the mystery gets. A great winter read for this first novel.
