The Friends of Huntington Memorial Library will be holding a "Literary Tea" from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the library. They will be celebrating mothers and the various roles they play.
Short stories and poems will be read aloud. Everyone will be able to share memories or advice given by mothers, grandmothers, caregivers or a special woman in our lives. Do you have a special memory you'd like to share? Plan on attending this program with the Friends. Tea and refreshments will be served. Adults are invited and registration is required due to space limitations. Registration may be done in person or by calling 432-1980.
Librarian Sarah Livingston will offer a series of genealogy programs during May. The sessions are listed below and you can sign up for as many programs as you like. Registration is required for all workshops and may be done in person or by calling the library at 432-1980.
For the workshops involving the Internet, each participant will be able to use a computer, compliments of the Four County Library System Traveling Classroom.

Sign up for individual genealogy workshop sessions May 16 to 20 at the library. Using book and Internet resources, Livingston will work with you individually to help you with your genealogical research. There is no charge for individual sessions, but registration is required. Registration deadline is May 13.
Understanding Census Records
This workshop will focus on all things census. Learn about the types of census records, how they are organized, how to use them, and where to find them. It will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, and there is a $5 materials fee, payable at the time of the workshop.
Crossing the Border to Canada
If your ancestors are from Canada, you'll learn how to trace your Canadian roots during this workshop. Discover Internet resources to help you and find out where and how to write for records. A $10 materials fee is payable at the time of the workshop, which is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 18.
Beginning Genealogy: Internet & Ancestry.com
This workshop will be an introduction to available resources such as Mormon records, USGenWeb, Ellis Island, Castle Garden, e-mail lists, and Ancestry.com Library Edition. This session is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 19. There is a $5 materials fee, payable at the time of the workshop.
