App update should improve ebook experience

---- — OverDrive, the provider of electronic books for the Four County Library System, will make some changes to the OverDrive Media Console App this week. The newest update will improve speed and fix some bugs in the App. Most importantly, for iOS device (Apple) users, you will need to reauthorize your App with your Adobe ID. Upon opening the App, after the update, you should be prompted to sign in again with your Adobe ID. Click “sign in” and enter in the password that you chose for your Adobe account.

If you are an Audiobook user and have not downloaded all the parts of an Audiobook title, you will need to go back to the Download Zone website and download the book again. Any titles you currently have checked out can be found in your Bookshelf, under the Account section of the Download Zone.

Paul Anka, pop singer and songwriter who was a teen heartthrob of the ‘50s has written his life story in “My Way.” If you’ve been an Anka fan through the years, you’ll enjoy reading about how he managed his own career starting at 14. In addition to writing his own songs, he also composed the theme for “The Tonight Show,” Sinatra’s “My Way” and more. Photographs through the years are also included.


Astronaut Buzz Aldrin believes the future of humans depends on space exploration in “Mission to Mars.” By focusing on space exploration, we will expand our universe by making other solar bodies habitable. Kathryn O’Sullivan debuts with her first mystery “Foal Play.” Set in North Carolina, Colleen McCabe knows there’s trouble when a dead body washes up on shore in her town of Corolla. The sheriff doesn’t want her to get involved, but she decides to investigate on her own. A second death, arson and other suspicious activities also happen and it isn’t long before Colleen finds herself in over her head. She isn’t about to give up and readers will cheer her all the way.


“Hug a Bull: An Ode to Animal Dads” by Aaron Zenz captures the name of male animals in rhyming text to tell a warm story. Ganders, bulls, drones, stallions and more animals are showcased at the end of the book with the animal picture and name followed by the male name. A great way for youngsters to learn new words.


Fancy Nancy fans will delight in the newest release, “Fancy Nancy: Fanciest Doll in the Universe.” Author Jane O’Connor continues to delight children with Nancy’s latest escapades. Fancy Nancy’s sister drew a tattoo in permanent ink on Nancy’s special doll. Fancy Nancy is angry and upset. When her mother proposes a fancy doll party, Nancy accepts. At the party, something unusual happens that readers won’t expect.


Mark Teague will have the whole family laughing in “The Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Wolf.” This takeoff on the traditional fairy tale takes an unusual turn after the wolf falls over in a faint trying to blow down the third little pig’s house. Don’t miss it.
