Music Industry tips

For people who would like to follow Linda Magill's example, here are some tips:

Presenting concerts can be fun, but it's also very hard work. Make careful, step-by-step plans and schedules for your concert, including a suitable place or venue to match the style of music and people who are likely to attend your event.

Be flexible about the venues you use for performances. If you can't find an affordable or available concert hall, present your concert in an art gallery, church, library or in someone's home.

When presenting an event with professional or amateur performers, be sure to provide good working conditions. Musicians need solid chairs, easy access to the stage or performance area, and they need enough space for their instruments.

Become acquainted with as many musicians in your area as possible, both amateur and professional, and find opportunities to make music with them or hear their rehearsals and performances.

Find local organizations that need help with fundraising and plan a concert with that purpose in mind.

Play as an amateur, a lover of music, but play with professional standards.

Sharing your music with others, whether as a performer or concert presenter, is a very pleasurable experience. Have fun.
