January 08, 2009 04:00 am No charges have been filed from a Dec. 13 accident in Andes that killed a Wells Bridge man, state police at Oneonta said Tuesday, though the investigation is continuing. Jon J. Church, 31, died after he wrecked his vehicle on state Route 28, crawled out onto a roadway and was struck by two passing cars, according to state police. Church crawled out of the vehicle through the driver's side window and onto the pavement in the southbound lane, where he remained in a prone position, troopers said in a news release. Christine C. Arnao, 44, of Margaretville, was driving south and struck Church, dragging him into the northbound lane, troopers said. Jermaine Campbell, 21, of Kingston, was driving north on Route 28, and also struck Church, according to the release. Campbell left the scene and continued north, troopers said. Arnao stopped her vehicle after hitting Church, said Lt. James Land of state police headquarters in Sidney. Church, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Delaware County Medical Examiner Dr. Richard Ucci, died from blunt force trauma, Land said. Land said previously he did not know if alcohol was a factor. Investigators said Tuesday that they are waiting for laboratory results and a full report from the accident reconstruction specialists. Delaware County District Attorney Richard Northrup has been involved in the investigation, state police said. Northrup said previously that he visited the scene of the accident.
