WORCESTER _ The state Department of Transportation will perform guide rail repair Wednesday on Interstate 88 eastbound and westbound between exit 19 (Worcester) and exit 20 (Richmondville).

The work will begin at 8 a.m. in the town of Richmondville. Motorists will encounter alternating lane closures in both directions within the work zone. This work is expected to be completed Thursday, weather permitting.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

ONEONTA "" Hartwick College Assistant Professor of Art Joseph Von Stengel will be presenting an art installation titled "Bird Watching" at Pine Lake Environmental Campus until April 9. An opening reception will be held in Robertson Lodge at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Von Stengel, "Bird Watching" is a multimedia installation which utilizes the activity of bird-watching to focus on the environmental factors that affect the well-being of bird populations in urban areas.

"Much like the miner bird, whose death indicates a dangerous lack of air purity in a mine, these birds may be signs of environmental issues within the very spaces we live and work," he explained.

Von Stengel's most recent artworks include digital media performances, a new book of patterns and a show that questions the role of toys in culture, according to a media release. His work can be seen online at www.culturerecycling.com.

Partial funding for the installation comes from a Hartwick College Faculty Research Grant.
