Stamford man gets probation

In Delaware County Court on Monday:

- Roger W. Weiss, 62, of Stamford, pleaded guilty Feb. 11 to two counts of DWI for incidents that occurred in Stamford on Sept. 28 and Oct. 8. Weiss was sentenced to five years’ probation with drug court, $1,000 fine and 100 hours of community service.

- Ronald L. Ray, 45, of Unadilla, was sentenced to one-to-three years in prison on a charge of fourth-degree grand larceny. He was ordered to pay $2,700 to Margaret Wormuth.

Ray apologized to Wormuth, saying, “I never intended to rip you off and steal from you, or I wouldn’t have had the materials delivered or left my tools and ladder there. “We had a disagreement and I intended to make you wait a while, not blow you off,” Ray continued.

He said his drinking was behind his behavior.

- Julie Mettler, 41, of Walton, admitted violating her probation by associating with Richard Smith. She was sentenced to 60 days in jail and will continue with probation and drug court.

Mettler is on probation for using illegally obtained prescription forms to buy drugs at pharmacies in Walton and Delhi. She pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

- John Garcia, 46, address unknown, admitted to violating his probation by using marijuana and heroin. Garcia was referred back to drug court for a second full term, with an additional 100 hours of community service.

Garcia was originally sentenced to probation on a fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance charge.
