LAURENS _ An auto-repair shop on state Route 205 was engulfed in flames at dusk Tuesday.

The blaze at Lee's Auto Repair sent flames shooting through the roof of the double-bay garage and a plume of dark smoke several hundred feet into the air.

About two dozen cars, trucks and campers _ including some visible within the garage _ were on the repair shop's property.

The first report of the fire came in at 7:40 p.m., according to Otsego County 911.

Firefighters from Laurens, West Laurens, West Oneonta, Mount Vision and Hartwick fire departments were called to the scene, as well as county emergency officials and fire investigators.

Laurens firefighters were still at the scene at about 10:30 p.m., according to 911 dispatchers.

Laurens fire officials could not immediately be reached for comment about the blaze.
