Cuyle Carvin is coming home to Oneonta for Saturday's test screening of his film ``Fog Warning'' at the Southside Cinema.
The independently produced film, which details a bizarre murder investigation, will be shown starting at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
``We'll be asking people what they think, with the idea of tightening it up and improving it,'' Carvin, 27, said Thursday.
Directed by Emmy Award-winner Christopher Ward, ``Fog Warning'' unfolds amid a string of unsolved crimes. Three bad men are on the case, and ``I play the ring leader of these thugs,'' Carvin said.
The film is rated `R' for ``language, violence and brief nudity,'' he said.
Carvin, a 1999 graduate of Oneonta High School and a 2003 graduate of Hartwick College, said it's fun to play the heavy.
``You get to say all the things you sometimes wish you could say to someone, but would never dare to,'' he said.
Carvin loves acting and moved from Oneonta to New York City to launch his professional career after earning a degree in film production from Hartwick College.
``I've been in a number of productions, and I think this might be the break I've been waiting for,'' he said.
During his four years in the big city, he has held ``about 25'' day jobs to keep himself afloat financially while he pursues his artistic ambitions.
``I've done everything from office work to waiting on tables,'' he said. ``When I go to an interview, I tell them I'm an actor and may have to take time off if something comes up. They say `OK,' but then when something does come up and I can't come to work, that's usually the end of it.''
Still, he is making his way and has appeared in several independently produced films as well as the television shows ``As the World Turns,'' All My Children,'' "One Life to Live,'' ``Astonishing News'' and ``Rescue Me,'' according to his website, www.cuylecarvin.com.
