MILFORD _ The public is invited to Milford Central School on Wednesday to meet the candidates for the two open seats on the board of education, according to a news release.
The session that starts at 7 p.m. at Garman Performing Arts Center is being hosted by the Milford Teacher's Association. The candidates will appear on the ballot for the May 20 vote, which will also include the school budget.
The four candidates are incumbents Deb Robinson and Vera Sosnowski and challengers Jerry Robinson and Richard Youngs.
The one-hour session will consist of short introductions and a question-and-answer session with the public.

Seniors to clean up downtown
ONEONTA _ Downtown Oneonta will be filled with SUCO seniors from 3 to 5 p.m. today for a cleanup day.
The senior class organized a group to come downtown and sweep sidewalks, wash windows, pick up trash and paint, organizers said.
Mayor John Nader will greet them at City Hall, and then the seniors will break into teams. The city will arm them with brooms and cleaning supplies but they will provide the labor, organizers said.
Downtown eateries are providing refreshments afterward.
The event is being coordinated by the senior class, Main Street Oneonta and the city. For more information, call Dana LaCroix at 434-6755.

Woman charged with forgery
DOWNSVILLE _ A Downsville woman was charged with five counts of second-degree forgery on Sunday, Colchester Police Chief Chris D'Addezio said in a media release.
Diana M. Turner, 42, allegedly forged five New York state retirement checks and deposited the checks into another person's bank account, D'Addezio said.
Turner was arraigned in Walton Town Court and was jailed on $2,000 bail.
D'Addezio said other charges may be pending.

DWI charges are dismissed
STAMFORD _ A Harpersfield woman who was charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated had them dismissed by Justice William Nicholson in Stamford Village Court on April 30.
Jamie L. Mueller, 30, had also been charged with failing to signal a turn and going through a stop sign.
Mueller's attorney, Michael Jacobs of Stamford, said the charges were dismissed after motions arguing that the case violated speedy trial rules.
According to a disposition issued by Nicholson, all charges were dismissed.
