Business Beat: Area farm restaurant to offer Sunday brunch

Fable at Stone & Thistle Farm in East Meredith will offer Sunday brunch starting May 24.

The $15 per person brunch includes an 11 a.m. tour of the farm, and the buffet brunch at noon will feature the farm's organic harvest of meats, produce, dairy and eggs. A buffet might include homemade granola with goat's milk yogurt, muffins, omelets, sausage, bacon, fruits, pancakes, goat milk and juices. Dishes change each week with the season.

Fable at Stone & Thistle Farm is at 1211 Kelso Road. For more information, call 278-5800 or visit www.stoneandthistlefarm.com.

Darkroom business has website

Annie's Community Darkroom in Schenevus has launched a website and resumed offering classes.

The business opened in Oneonta in September 2001 and closed in June 2006, then re-opened in October 2006 at 223 Tabor Road in Schenevus, said owner Annie Gohde in a recent media release.

Gohde said she started offering classes in January and has a website, www.anniescommunitydarkroom.com, where users can browse for upcoming courses and workshops. The business is three miles from the village of Middlefield.

The darkroom, which is in the basement of her home, was moved primarily to keep prices to customers at a minimum, Gohde said. Overhead is lower because there aren't bills at a rented location, she said.

Also, the picturesque setting can be an inspiration to customers, she said, and she doesn't have far to go when the darkroom closes.

In addition to darkroom and photography-based classes, the business offers crafts and other courses, such as scrapbooking, rubber stamping, selling on eBay and tintype portraits.

Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and by appointment Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

For more information, call 547-2047, e-mail gohdea@gmail.com or visit the website.

`Book Village' will have

semiannual sale

The Hobart Book Village will hold a semiannual used-book sale Memorial Day weekend.

For the past few years, the Hobart Book Village, located along Main Street on state Route 10 in Hobart, and its book-selling neighbors in South Kortright and Delhi hold a weekend sale to kick off the beginning of summer, according to a media release. A second sale is held during the Thanksgiving Day weekend.

This year, the sale will feature four Main Street bookshops. They are Wm. H. Adams' Antiquarian Book Shop, the Hobart International Bookport, Blenheim Hill Books and Liberty Rock Books. Each shop specializes in certain genres and subjects, organizers said, but others items available include artwork, photographs and local history materials.

Other shops participating are Bibliobarn in South Kortright and the Steinway Book Co. in Delhi, a media release said.

Also, local artist and author D. Michael Price will be exhibiting his artwork and signing copies of his book at Liberty Rock Books on Saturday, May 23.

The sale will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, May 25.
