May 31, 2008 08:26 am Staff Report The cause of a fire that destroyed an East Branch Main Street home on Thursday night is still under investigation, fire officials said. The blaze was at the home of Douglas Norwood III and his wife Leanne, East Branch Fire Chief Rod Keesler said. The couple and their four children are staying with friends, he said. The home was insured, said Delaware County Director of Emergency Services Rich Bell. It was called in at about 9:50 p.m., by a neighbor who saw flames breaking through the roof, Bell said. Only the husband was home at the time, and he got out without injury, Bell said. There was no significant damage to the surrounding houses, said Bell. East Branch received mutual aid from Downsville, Hancock, Cooks Falls, Roscoe, Deposit and Walton fire departments. There were between 40 and 50 firefighters at the scene, and none was injured, Bell said.
