June 02, 2009 07:34 am Roadwork to affect Oneonta Roadwork today will affect streets in Oneonta as well as portions of Interstate 88. On I-88, bridge washing will begin at about 7 a.m. in both directions in Chenango and Otsego counties, according to the state Department of Transportation. Motorists will encounter alternating lane closures in the eastbound and westbound directions within the work zone, the DOT said, and are urged to slow down, merge safely and stay alert. The bridge washing, described as a "slow-moving mobile operation" is expected to be done by 5 p.m. June 11. In Oneonta, Cornerstone Property Services announced that Ford Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today for water-main work. Work will be done at 78 Ford Ave., officials said; the street will be closed between Linden Avenue and Spruce Street. For more information, call 433-1512. Starting at 10 a.m., the five-judge panel, including New Berlin resident Elizabeth Garry, will commence court at the county courthouse in Cooperstown, the court said in a media release. The court will hear oral arguments for civil and criminal cases. It is the second time the Appellate Court will be hearing arguments in Otsego County, the other occurrence being in 1998. Garry was appointed to the court in March, and continues to work in her New Berlin home as well as in Albany, she previously told The Daily Star. The other members of the panel, the release said, are presiding Justice Anthony Cardona and justices Robert Rose, Edward Spain and Anthony Kane. For more information, call court clerk Michael J. The tower is serving AT&T customers in North Franklin, state Routes 28 and 357, and parts of Interstate 88, she said by e-mail, and is part of the company's 2009 network expansion plans across New York state.
