The cause of a fire that heavily damaged a vacant three-story house in the village of Delhi is being treated as suspicious, said county fire investigator James Olmstead.

The fire was reported at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, and the final crew left the scene at about 9 a.m. Thursday.

The owner of the building at 37 Meredith St. has not been determined, he said, so he could not say if there was any insurance. He was not sure if it would be salvageable.

A dog from the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control was brought to the scene, he said. Delhi police and Delaware deputies are conducting an investigation, he said.

The Delhi Fire Department received mutual aid from Meridale, Treadwell, Franklin and Walton fire departments, he said. Nobody was injured in fighting the blaze, he said.
