The Bloomville man who won $75,000 from a WWE televised contest said his wife and newborn son were doing fine Wednesday.
Two days before his wife, Carrie, 28, was due to give birth to their son, William, by Caesarean section, Peter Mauer, 39, was called during a broadcast of World Wrestling Entertainment's "Monday Night Raw" and knew the password. The couple already have two girls, Rose, 10, and Autumn, 8.
Both mother and son are doing well, Mauer said Wednesday. The baby was born at 8:20 a.m. at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. He was 9 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 21 inches, Mauer said.
Carrie, a stay-at-home mom, is expected to be at the hospital a few days as she recovers from the delivery, he said.
Mauer, who works on a production line at pharmaceutical-maker Covidien (formerly Tyco) in Hobart, said he makes about $40,000 a year, so the money will be helpful for such things as land and school taxes and other family bills.
