An Exeter man was taken to Faxton Hospital in Utica on Monday night for smoke inhalation after his double-wide mobile home at 2239 County Highway 19 caught fire.
John Hilts, 64, was transported by the West Winfield ambulance, according to Lyle Jones Jr., Otsego County's emergency services coordinator.
Hilt's wife, Robin Hilts, was not home at the time of the blaze.
It was the second time a home had burned at the site, Jones said.
``There was a structure fire there on Aug. 20, 2005,'' he said.
That blaze destroyed a combination mobile home and shed, but this time, damage was limited, Jones said.
``The West Exeter Fire Department did an excellent job of containing the fire to the bedroom, but there was heavy smoke damage,'' he said.
The Schuyler Lake Fire Department helped at the scene, and the Richfield Springs Fire Department was on standby.
The fire apparently started with a faulty bedroom lamp, he said.
According to Office of Emergency Services personnel, the dwelling is insured.
