Two teenaged inmates in Otsego County jail were charged June 22 after a fight with two incarcerated teens, including one who was taken to a hospital, Otsego County deputies said in a media release.
Luke J. MacCracken, 18, of Maryland, was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree attempted assault, both felonies, deputies said, and Angelo G. Felice, 17, of Otego, was charged with two counts of second-degree attempted assault. The defendants were arraigned in Middlefield court by Judge Raymond Burr, released on recognizance and returned to the jail.
Deputies said the teenagers fought with two others in their housing unit on June 7.
MacCracken was accused of repeatedly punching a 17-year-old and kicking him in the face, deputies said. The injured teen had scrapes and bruises, was taken to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown for treatment of head injuries and released, and was then returned to the jail, according to deputies.
Felice was accused of hitting an 18-year-old inmate in the head with a plastic meal tray and punching him repeatedly in the head, deputies said. The defendants also are accused of punching both alleged victims.
Felice is serving a two-year sentence on misdemeanor charges stemming from burglaries, deputies said, and MacCracken had been returned to jail on bail set in Maryland Town Court of $3,000 on for a charge of fourth-degree grand larceny, and $500 bail set in Oneonta City Court on a charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, deputies said.
Felice could face up to eight years in prison if convicted of charges stemming from the fight, deputies said, and MacCracken could be sentenced up to 11 years if convicted.
